Firms do not operate in a vacuum. Key to todayís supply chains is the capability to anticipate to evolving stakeholder needs. It's no longer a firm's ownership of capabilities that counts but rather its ability to access and leverage the most of critical capabilities, whether or not they reside within the boundaries of the firm.
This research moves beyond a transaction-cost perspective on supplier relationships and intends to illuminate the value potential of innovative, market-oriented and sustainable suppliers for a firmís customers, shareholders and for society in general.
The PhD research consists of three complementary research projects based on survey data collected in 88 supply chains existing of a major supplier, a focal firm and a major customer. The research is presented and illustrated in diverse academic and non-academic publications.
